Glenn Mackie has been playing the bagpipes in the central Ohio area for nearly twenty-five years.
He has studied the Highland bagpipe at the College of Piping in Glasgow Scotland, the Balmoral School, the Ohio Scotttish Art School and the North American Academy of Piping.
As a member of the Capital City Pipes and Drums, Glenn traveled to Scotland twice to compete in the Worl Pipe Band Championships, winning Best Overseas Band their first time out. During the nineties Glenn played with Crag Dhe Cead and the North Coast Pipe Bands. Finally, in 1999 Glenn joined the Cyril Scott pipe Band in time to travel to Scotland for a third run at the Worlds. In 2002 Glenn took over as Pipe Major of Cyril Scott.
Piping has also afforded Glenn the opportunity to play with the Ohio State University marching band, the Columbus Symphony, and the Chieftains!
Over the course of his piping career, Glenn has played for a variety of events including; weddings, private parties, corporate functions, funerals and Saint Patrick's Day celebrations all over the Columbus area. Now Glenn gives back to piping through teaching others to play the pipes.
